Cure Bowl, Pivotal Event in Breast Cancer Fight

When the AutoNation Cure Bowl kicks off this month from the Orlando Citrus Bowl Stadium it is bound to be enormously successful in the fight against breast cancer. The game will be held at the newly rebuilt Citrus Bowl in Downtown Orlando and nationally televised by CBS Sports.

The Cure Bowl website describes the event as more than just a game: “It’s a celebration of the women who are living with breast cancer today and those who will face it tomorrow. It’s a memoriam of those who have lost their battle and a hope for those who fight to survive.” But more than that, the Cure Bowl hopes to be a central moment in raising awareness around the world and bringing an end to the deadly disease for good.

Cure Bowl describes the organization’s executive director, Alan Gooch, as having committed his life to helping others, and the Cure Bowl’s pledge of $1 million to the work of breast cancer researcher, Dr. Annette Khaled at the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, is a clear sign that Gooch and his organization are holding true to that commitment of service.
